Gumboots was a young gardener who came to work in the gardens at Lowther Castle in the 1930s.
On his first day, Gumboots went to the toolshed and found some tools were missing. This is the story of his hunt for those missing tools.
Each chapter in Gumboots’ story has a clue – marked in red. The red clue tells you where to go next.

Holker Hall are running the Spring Fair

Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May
The Holker Spring Fair will bring together a fine selection of home, food, garden and gift exhibitors set in the bustling Courtyard and Piazza. Visitors will discover a spring showcase of delicious artisanal food, glorious flowers and plants and beautiful handmade gifts alongside lively entertainment.
Gates open 10.30am – 5.00pm.
Entry £3 per adult. Accompanied children free of charge and includes parking and entry to the Café, Food Hall and Gift Shop.
Dogs on leads welcome.
Please note: The hall and gardens will close early on Saturday 4th May for a private wedding. The spring fair will continue until 5pm.
Hall: Closing at 1pm. Last entry 12.30pm.
Gardens: Closing at 3pm. Last entry at 2.30pm.
