Easter in the Lake District!

Easter is almost upon us and so we have collected some of the best things to do in and around Bowness on Windermere over the next few weeks to help celebrate the beginning of Spring!

There’s nothing more fun than a good old fashioned easter egg hunt, and the lakes has plenty to choose from! Our nearest one is Wray Castle- you can even catch the boat across and walk along the lake to get there if you’re feeling extra adventurous! The trail will be running from 3 April – 18 April (apart from 11 and 12 April). More info can be found here.

You can also hunt for easter treats at Aira Force, and fit in a walk to see the beautiful waterfall whilst you’re at it! The trail takes place between 2-18 April 2022, from 10 to 3, so come along and explore the beautiful Aira Force and Gowbarrow Park. The price of the trail is £3 per child and includes a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end. More info here.

If you want an egg hunt with a difference, head to the Bay in Barrow-in-Furness where they’ll be hunting for eggcases from shark and skate species.  1-4pm, Saturday 16th April. More info can be found here.

Another lovely way to spend Easter, is going to see all the beautiful spring flowers we have in the Lake District.

We would recommend going to see the beautiful daffodils at Dora’s Field- originally owned by William Wordsworth- in Grasmere- you can even pop into the Wordsworth museum to learn the history of the man himself! More info here.

Another place to see daffodils is Tarn Hows and you can combine it with a lovely family friendly walk. More info here.

The gardens at Sizergh are full of beautiful spring flowers and makes a lovely day out. More info here.

And if you want even more Easter fun, both Holker Hall and Walby Farm Park are running events throughout the Easter period.

From Saturday 2-Tuesday 19th April, Walby Farm Park are running their Easter Eggstravaganza. Meet baby lambs, hunt for easter eggs and visit the chocolatiers kitchen. More info here.

And Holker Hall are putting on ‘Charlie’s Chocolate Extravaganza’ an interactive children’s outdoor theatre experience on Saturday 16th April. Advance tickets are £15 per child with one accompanying adult. More information and a link to buy tickets can be found here.

We hope you enjoy Easter week in the beautiful Lake District!
