Great Stay

We enjoyed a lovely stay over the bank holiday weekend,we stayed in a family room overlooking the beautiful garden.
Breakfast was really good, the kids loved all the fresh fruit available aswell as having a cooked breakfast, they even made hot chocolate for my son.
The room was clean and bright and fitted the four of us in perfectly,it was good to have own entrance too.
Probably the nicest place we have stayed in at Bowness (even compared to the bigger Hotels)as its in a great location , close to everything ,but lovely and peaceful too. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.I would highly recommend and hope to return soon

Nice Stay’

We had a ground floor room with disabled bathroom, which we had requested, and found very helpful for our needs. The room was comfy, clean and a good size. The gardens outside our room were lovely. The breakfasts were excellent and the service was really good. The Guest House was in a great position, very close to centre of Bowness. We would definately stay again! 15th May, 2012

A great windermere find

A great find
We booked for one night stay which alot of Lakes hotels don’t allow especially on a Friday night. The reviews on here seemed excellent and theres always a worry that your expectations may be too high and you end up being dissapointed. I’m delighted to day this was not the case, in fact we commented how the room and breakfast were even better than we had hoped for. As a forty something couple with an Autistic 16yo son, we really need a family room still and usually end up in a double room with an extra bed squashed in. However, here the family rooms appear to be based in the garden chalets, which although from the outside may look somewhat dated, are superbly decorated and fitted out inside, with large flat screen tv’s, leather tub chairs and a very smart bathroom. To get a balcony as well was a welcome bonus. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets, pillows and covers were top quality. To add further to our superb stay, the breakfast was amongst the best we have ever had and deserves it awards. Excellent selection of fresh fruits and cereals and then a large choice of cooked items ranging from full english to kippers and even smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toasted muffins !!
All in all an excellent hotel which we very much look forward to returning to
Special mention also to the owners and staff who were extremely efficient but very friendly and welcoming at the same time

Windermere Hotel Surprise

What a surprise, we stayed in chalets , all mod cons etc. and went to the house for our meals.Peace.
What a great place, one to return to, all the boxes ticked for quality.

A great Easte break

5 of 5 starsReviewed 9 April 2012 NEW

My husband and I stayed in the Bay Room for 3 nights over Easter at this hotel. We were well impressed with the size of this room. The bathroom has a shower and a bath. What we really liked was the fact that the room was separate to the hotel so it was lovely and quiet (we hate staying in hotels where you are woken by doors slamming in corridors or maids starting there cleaning early!) The food we found to be exceptional. Starter, sorbet, main course, desert then lovely chocolates and coffee! The chef certainly is one of the best.  In fact all the staff were excellent, they really worked as a team. Even the owners helped out at breakfast when it was really busy. Everyone was given a Cadburys Creme egg on Easter Sunday which was a lovely touch.  This is a beautiful area to stay, we enjoyed hiring bikes from the cycle hire place at Windermere station and cycling around the lake.

Perfect Escape

5 of 5 starsReviewed 10 April 2012 NEW

My parents have often visited The Burn How and following their Diamond Wedding Celebration, I treated them to an Easter weekend break, which we all really enjoyed. All the staff are so warm and welcoming. The hotel is situated in lovely gardens and very convenient for the Bowness Ferry and town. Our rooms were spacious, (my parents was palatial,) really comfortable and had everything we required including a never ending source of really hot water, great for aching muscles. The food is amazing, the best hotel food I have ever had, 5 star dining at The Burn How. It was my first visit but will not be my last.

Room Tip: There is a gym at the hotel but I did not use it as there is such wonderful outdoor activities.
