“Excellent hotel”

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It was a good location. The room was very clean, and the food was of a high quality, the fresh fruit at breakfast was particularly good. The service was attentive, but not over-bearing or subservient. Overall a very pleasant stay, shame they could not have orgainised the weather!!!

“Lake District Minibreak”

We have just returned from a wonderful minibreak at the Burn How, all the staff were very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. The breakfast was the best we have ever tasted and both days we were there we didn’t feel the need to have any lunch as we had such an excellent breakfast. Our garden chalet room was spacious and very clean, it had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The hotel was in a great location a short walk from the lake in one direction and in the other within minutes from all amenities Bowness has to offer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommed the Burn How to family and friends and espite the torrential rain we had a fabulous time and can’t wait to return to this hotel

“Fab1 Fab! Fab!

We (being a couple aged 29 and 30) stayed here in May 2012 as it was a reasonable price and location.

Our room was lovely, quite like being in your own cottage (garden chalet) so you can come and go as you please. I t was very clean, nicely furnished with nice toiletries in the bathroom.

The gardens are beautiful with lots of birds to watch whislt you are sitting on your balcony or having breakfast. A lot of time and effort is clearly taken in the gardens and surroundings of the hotel.

The breakfast is delicious-lots of fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurts etc and a nic e choice of a full english, eggs benedict etc to follow.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and created a very nice welcoming atmosphere. Is is clearly a family business which I think is far nicer than a standard chain type of hotel!

I could not recommend this hotel enough and it is literally a 2 minute walk to the shops, bars, lake and lake cruise terminal. Thera are so many shops, restaurants and pubs nearby so you will not be bored whatever the weather.

It is so good we are going to try and go back for a few days at the end of June!

I have stayed in so many hotels worldwide but to be fair I only take time to write a review if the hotel is exceptionally good or bad. I think this hotel is a true little gem and the perfect place for a weekend getaway!

Relaxing 3 days at the Burn How

‘Relaxing 3 days at the Burn How!’
We so enjoyed our stay with you at the Burn How Garden House Hotel. The staff are so kind, hospitable and helpful and can’t do enough for you. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The gardens beautiful despite the rain! We would definitely come again at some point in the future.
The only point I would make is that the menu was virtually the same each night – apart from a special choice each evening. I would have been pleased to see a change in menu after two nights. The food was excellent though and the chef needs to be commended.
We so enjoyed our stay!

Grandie

‘Grandie’
Our first time at Burn How but certainly not the last. Location very convenient to Bowness if you like to eat out, but why bother, this hotel has probably the best food in any hotel in the Lakes, and Dorothy is a poppet!

Warm and Welcoming

‘Warm and welcoming’
From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel welcome. The hotel advertises a relaxing stay and this is exactly what we got. Lovely mature gardens which block outside noise from traffic etc, attentive and helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The food is freshly prepared, plentiful and appetising. We will definitely be returning to the hotel in the foreseeable future

2 night break

‘2 night break’
We had a wonderful 2 night break at the Burn How Garden House Hotel. It all ended too soon and I wish we could have stayed an extra night! The food was excellent and well presented, rooms were clean and plenty of space, breakfast was absolutely FAB and definitely deserved the award!! If I had to be picky, I would suggest more tables and chairs outside the bar area. We were lucky enough to arrive on a very hot week, which meant everyone wanted to sit in the evening sun. Thank you very much for a perfect stay!

Languishing in the Lakes

‘Languishing in the Lakes’
We were booked in a the Burn How Hotel by our group organiser (16 of us on a classic car tour) We didn’t know what to expect of our accomodation but were pleased to find a wonderful welcome, superb, spacious rooms and food ‘to die for’! A good choice of wonderfully cooked mains, sorbets or soup for an extra course and wonderful breakfasts. I’d better have a little whinge, or you’ll think I’m in the pay of the establishment! Could have done with a mor adventurous sheese course. There must be some superb local cheeses…I want to try them!!
