Burn How Garden House Hotel

Tock How Farm, Cumbria
"Not ours, but ours to look after"

The Burn How Hotel is helping to maintain a balance in the fragile Lake District environment through contributions from guests and ourselves.

Lakes Partnehip Logo

Sculptured over thousands of years by nature and by Man, The Lake District is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in Britain. The ravages of time, the Lakeland weather and the many visitors can take their toll on this fragile environment.

At The Burn How Garden House Hotel we're helping to care for this living landscape by financing vital conservation work.

In 2000 we joined the Tourism & Conservation Partnership as an Associate Member and since then have supported their aims to raise funds from visitors and tourism businesses to protect and enhance the natural beauty of the Lake District.

Post Knott

Not far from the hustle and bustle of Bowness, nestled under Brantfell and a short distance from the hotel lies Post Knott. This short walk offering panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding hills is accessible to all levels of walkers. The Burn How are working with The National Trust in improving footpath repairs and introducing way marking along the route.

If you take a stroll up Post Knott, look out for our stone seat! If on your return you can tell us the inscription, we will have a small reward for you!

Details of this walk, and many others are available from reception.

How you can help...

When you check out from your stay with us, a voluntary £2 contribution will be added to your account which will go towards vital projects to help protect the Lakeland environment for years to come.
